IP Intelligence Used to Identify Unauthorized Users Across Devices and Prematurely Stop Data Breaches
Sterling, Va. -- Neustar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR) a trusted, neutral provider of real-time information services and analytics, today announced that Duo Security, a cloud-based access security provider protecting the world’s fastest-growing companies and thousands of organizations worldwide, is using Neustar’s IP Intelligence to protect against fraud.
Prior to employing Neustar’s IP Intelligence, Duo Security relied on a traditional two-factor user authentication to safeguard customer account information. Neustar IP Intelligence uses a GeoPoint database to accurately map billions of IP addresses worldwide and provides attributes and scores that help identify how a user is connecting to the internet, where a user is connecting from, and potential indicators of fraudulent and risky behaviors. Duo Security can now identify IP addresses that are being used maliciously, and spot anonymous proxy servers that are often used in fraudulent attempts.
“Our customers wanted alerts about anonymous IP proxies,” said Jon Oberheide, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Duo Security. “Our beta customers love the new set of advanced security features, including everything that IP intelligence brings. They know where the user is coming from and if that location is associated with risky or suspicious behavior,” he added.
According to Andrew Onufer, vice president of product management at Neustar, GeoPoint IP Intelligence relies on precise data to detect and reduce fraud. “The IP Intelligence database, which accurately maps billions of IP addresses worldwide, enables us to gather data directly from the source and utilize patented, proprietary technologies for complete and accurate user location identification.”
As instances of mobile fraud and unauthorized log-in attempts continue to rise, Duo Security is poised to protect its clients and their information with Neustar’s IP Intelligence. “We felt we could grow with Neustar’s comprehensive approach to IP Intelligence ,” Oberheide concluded.
