North American Numbering Plan Administration
Since 1997, NeuStar has served as the FCC-appointed administrator of the NANP. NeuStar holds overall responsibility for neutrally overseeing the assignment and use of NANP numbering resources. Within the United States and its territories, NeuStar also coordinates central office (CO) code administration, area code relief and the collection of utilization and forecast data.
The North American Numbering Plan (NANP) is an integrated telephone numbering plan serving 19 countries across North America and the Caribbean. Regulatory authorities in each country have plenary authority over numbering resources, but the participating countries share numbering resources cooperatively.
